Since its official launch on November 1, 2020, the Beijing Cold Chain Food Traceability Platform (referred to as "Beijing Cold Chain") has cumulatively reviewed and approved 14,000 market entities, facilitating the circulation of 561,300 tons of imported cold chain food products from 115 countries and regions, ensuring the traceability of imported cold chain food products' origins and destinations.
This was introduced by Tang Yunhua, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Market Supervision, at a press conference on the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic in Beijing on the 9th.
From November 1, 2020, all imported cold chain food production and operation units in Beijing are required to truthfully upload traceability data, including the origin and flow of imported chilled and frozen meat and aquatic products, onto the "Beijing Cold Chain" platform. From February 12, 2021, the scope of products covered by the "Beijing Cold Chain" platform was expanded from imported chilled and frozen meat and aquatic products to all imported cold chain food products stored at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius (inclusive).
Tang Yunhua stated that Beijing strictly controls the entire process of imported cold chain food. Eleven sets of epidemic prevention guidelines have been issued for various links, including ports, logistics, warehousing, production processing, and business operations, to supervise and promote imported cold chain food operators to strictly implement food traceability, site disinfection, and personnel protection measures. At the same time, Beijing has comprehensively promoted the use of the "Beijing Cold Chain" traceability platform to ensure the traceability of imported cold chain food products' origins and destinations. The platform has cumulatively reviewed and approved 14,000 market entities, facilitating the circulation of 561,300 tons of imported cold chain food products from 115 countries and regions.
Tang Yunhua pointed out that Beijing focuses on imported cold chain food producers and operators, operators of centralized trading markets, and third-party cold storage facilities as key units, strictly enforcing the "Four Nos and Five Nots" policy: Imported cold chain food lacking quarantine certificates, nucleic acid test reports, disinfection certificates, or "Beijing Cold Chain" traceability information will not be purchased, used, transported, stored, or sold.
